Ela nasceu em Halle, na antiga Alemanha Oriental. Inicialmente estudou Medicina em Berlim, antes de se dedicar \u00e0s Belas Artes, onde concluiu o mestrado na Art Academy Berlin-Wei\u00dfensee sob orienta\u00e7\u00e3o de Katharina Grosse. Posteriormente, aprofundou os seus estudos com o Master of Arts em \u201cArt in Context\u201d na Universidade de Artes de Berlim.<\/p>\n<p>A sua carreira internacional inclui in\u00fameras exposi\u00e7\u00f5es individuais, entre outras, em pa\u00edses como Alemanha, Su\u00ed\u00e7a, \u00c1ustria, B\u00e9lgica, Portugal, Coreia do Sul, Canad\u00e1 e Bol\u00edvia. Girke \u00e9 conhecida por um estilo que combina refer\u00eancias da arte cl\u00e1ssica com estrat\u00e9gias contempor\u00e2neas, criando obras multifacetadas que misturam elementos abstratos, figurativos e ornamentais. As suas telas passam por processos de desgaste e reconstru\u00e7\u00e3o, revelando um palimpsesto de tempo, mem\u00f3ria e emo\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/p>\n<p>Em obras geralmente de grande formato, aparecem figuras hist\u00f3ricas como profetas ou anjos do barroco e do rococ\u00f3, habilmente entrela\u00e7adas com uma rede de padr\u00f5es modernos, s\u00edmbolos, ornamentos orientais ou cria\u00e7\u00f5es de palavras latinas criadas alquimicamente. Todo um processo de trabalho \u00e9 incerto e leva tempo sendo que num mundo onde as imagens j\u00e1 t\u00eam tantas dificuldades, em que quase se extinguem por excesso de \u00eaxito, de prolifera\u00e7\u00e3o, olhar leva tempo e pensar leva tempo. Como dizia Wittgenstein: \u201dOnde os outros continuam, eu paro\u201d. Na obra de Kristina Girke tamb\u00e9m h\u00e1 um mundo atr\u00e1s do mundo, para os que param.<\/p>\n<p>Para Girke, a arte \u00e9 um meio de explorar a fragilidade da cultura ocidental e a complexidade das percep\u00e7\u00f5es humanas. As suas obras, frequentemente ricas em cor, textura e simbolismo, convidam o observador a olhar para mundos ocultos e a refletir sobre as dimens\u00f5es filos\u00f3ficas e po\u00e9ticas da vida.
