Jos\u00e9 Relvas, conhecido entre os amigos como o Conspirador Contemplativo, foi um dos elementos mais ativos durante a implanta\u00e7\u00e3o do novo regime republicano em Portugal. A sua fam\u00edlia possu\u00eda fortes liga\u00e7\u00f5es ao concelho da Sert\u00e3, onde nasceram os seus av\u00f4s paternos: Jos\u00e9 Farinha Relvas (nasceu nas Relvas \u2013 Ermida) e Clementina Am\u00e1lia de Mascarenhas Pimenta (natural da Sert\u00e3). Os irm\u00e3os de Clementina Mascarenhas foram propriet\u00e1rios, ap\u00f3s a extin\u00e7\u00e3o das ordens religiosas, do edif\u00edcio que albergou o Convento de Santo Ant\u00f3nio. Mais tarde, a irm\u00e3 de Jos\u00e9 Relvas, Maria Clementina Relvas, passou a deter a propriedade do edif\u00edcio, residindo aqui nos anos de 1891 e 1892. J\u00e1 em 1909, morava no convento A.M.
