Azeite Alfredo

A special edition of the Alfredo olive oil bottle, which you can reuse with D’elvira Azeites

The history of “Casa Fernandes” begins in the 1930s, on the initiative of Augusto Fernandes, a true visionary who decided to build a resin factory in Oleiros. Subsequently, it extended the activity to the fields of real estate and agriculture, making the company one of the largest employers in the municipality. Augusto Fernandes was recognized by his peers for the enormous qualities he possessed and for his strategic vision. Perhaps for this reason, he came to hold the position of Mayor of the Municipality of Oleiros, between 1940 and 1949. He was responsible, among others, for the electrification of the village of Oleiros and for the completion of the road between Oleiros and Foz do Giraldo (which he paid for from his pocket). He led the autarchy in the difficult years of rationing imposed by the Second World War, guaranteeing that “the bread necessary for the food of the people has never been lacking”. His premature death in 1949, when he already owned a vast fortune, caused great consternation. He succeeded him in the leadership of the company, his son-in-law Alfredo da Silva Fernandes, who concluded some projects and maintained the strategy followed until then, building a new resin factory and an oil press. He, too, would be president of the Chamber of Oleiros in various terms. At the end of the 1980s, the resin sector went into crisis, which led Casa Fernandes to abandon investment in this business area. The specter of crisis hovered over the company, which intensified with the death, in 2010, of the then leader of Casa Fernandes, Augusto Fernandes (grandson of the company's founder and who shared the same name with him. After his death, I married the 30 years with a granddaughter and great-granddaughter of industrialists / resin businessmen. Then, as Alfredo da Silva told Manuel Mello “Houses with my daughter, houses with CUF!”; I also fell in love and gained a love for this house and I try to reactivate its success, based on a product: olive oil. Casa Fernandes is currently betting on different segments, from olive growing to the forest and passing through the real estate sector. We reinforced the planting of new olive groves and entered the market with a product handled entirely in the old-fashioned way, from picking to leaving the mill, this mill, which is still traditional for presses. The Beira Baixa Olive Oil is of a unique quality, entirely from a variety, Oliveira Galega. two brands of olive oil: D'e lvira Azeites and the Special Edition “Alfredo”.
